Anedot is an online fundraising platform and payment processor. Our software does not have the ability to send communications other than legal transaction receipts or notices regarding active donations.
Anedot will never sell, share, or lease donor information with any third parties.
Anedot will never solicit donations on behalf of organizations.
We understand that receiving unwanted communications can be extremely frustrating. While we value privacy and security, we cannot control how organizations choose to manage data outside of our platform.
In light of this, our team has put together several tips to help you get your information removed from contact lists and stop unwanted communications.
How to Unsubscribe from Contact Lists:
If you are receiving emails:
Check for an "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the email.
This may be highlighted or match the format of the surrounding text. Clicking unsubscribe should remove your email address from the list or allow you to manage your subscription preferences for the organization.
Email providers can block specific senders or mark emails as spam.
If you need help flagging an email as spam or blocking an email address, check out your email provider’s support center.
We recommend that you do not open email attachments as they may not be secure.
If you are receiving texts:
Responding “Stop” should stop auto-texts. Though it is tempting to express your frustration, do not include any other text, as this may not trigger the unsubscribe request successfully.
Text messages may contain a link or instructions to opt-out or unsubscribe. Use caution when accessing links in messages, as organizations can easily attach other platforms, systems, or sites into their messages.
Any smartphone will usually allow you to block a phone number.
If the texts persist after the above, you can report the phone number(s) to your mobile carrier. Mobile carriers usually offer services to block spam texts or help with unsubscribing.
If you are receiving mail:
If you are receiving mail you did not sign up for, the USPS provides options to Refuse unwanted mail and remove name from mailing lists.
Contacting an Organization:
You can contact an organization directly to ask them to remove your information. For this, you would want to contact the organization requesting the funds, not a processor or mobile carrier.
Organizations should have a website with contact information or a built-in contact form where you can reach out. When you contact an organization, be precise and provide the data you would like to have removed and that you have not consented to be on their list(s). Do not include any sensitive data.
If an organization’s contact information is not visible on its website and does not have a contact page, contact information is typically hidden in the 'Privacy Policy' at the bottom of the main webpage.
If you do not see any way to contact an organization via their website, check for their social media. Social profiles typically have built-in message systems that allow you to contact them directly.
